Your kingdom grows outward from a small clearing. This page covers what you can place and how it helps you.
The market
Open the market with the cornucopia button (bottom right). Items are grouped into tabs, and each shows the level it unlocks at. Items you haven't reached yet can often be unlocked early with crowns.
Houses and taxes 🏠
Houses are where your coins come from. Each one produces taxes: click it when it's ready to collect the coins. The number of tax-paying houses you can have depends on your level, so new levels let you build more. The Cottage, available from level 4 for 200 coins, is the first house most kingdoms build.
Your story characters also get houses of their own (Yvette's House, Tom's House, Mia's House and more) as they move in.
Buildings with a job
- Crafting buildings (Workshop, Kitchen, Studio and their suppliers) make materials, food and decorations. See Crafting & Skills.
- Animals and crops feed your Kitchen. See Crops & Animals.
- Your castle sits at the heart of the kingdom and grows piece by piece.
Your castle and Castle Level 🏰
Your Castle Level (the tower icon at the top right) measures how grand your kingdom is. It grows as you build and improve your castle and add buildings and decorations around it. Castle Level matters because exploring the Gloom needs Castle Level points. See The Gloom & Beasties.
Decorations
Flowers, statues, fences, banners and more make your kingdom yours. Many also raise your Castle Level. There are over a thousand in the game files: browse them on Decorations.
Moving and storing
Use the move tool (bottom right) to rearrange your kingdom at any time. Most items can also go into storage and come back out later.
Limits
Some buildings are limited: you can only have a set number of Workshops, Kitchens and Studios, and the number of crops, animals and tax-paying houses grows with your level. The item's description in the market tells you its limit.
Find any item
Every building, decoration and castle piece is listed in Items, with its level and price.
